We had a new HD dvr box delivered by Time Warner late monday afternoon. The guy hooked it all up, and when it finally booted up, it displayed an error saying the box wasn't properly authorized. He said it was just loading its channels and would be fine.
So 4 hours later, as I'm on hold with TW, they say they'll have to send someone out as they have no idea what the problem is. But they couldn't send out before today. I could at least get the basic channels on tv by just bypassing the cable box, but the next day..our internet connection wouldn't...connect. Again i called TW, they said it could be somehow caused by the dvr - you think?
So today, the evil cable box was removed, and an authorized one was installed. And everything works again. Now I have to get back to the land of HD.

Why the hell can they never get it right the first time? We had similar issues.
It doesn't matter what they work on -- cable modem or cable box -- it's always wrong the first time.
I don't get it either, it was the same when we had ours initially installed. 3 trips for them to get it right.
That's exactly what I'm talking about. When we moved, it took multiple trips to get the cable modem installed... and then it didnt work for days.
Same with HD.
Same with almost any install/upgrade ever. It's always a pain, and someone always has to take off work, and it's always several hours, multiple times.
What are we getting out of this, TW? I mean, besides you costing us time and money. We certainly don't get our pay rates for the time we sit at home and wait on your ass, or sit on the phone with your people because you didnt fix it the first 3 times you were out. If we did, you'd end up giving us free cable for 6 months every time you screwed up.
In our house, we're lucky that someone's almost always here for things like this. It's an annoyance rather than a major disruption.
But why? Why does everyone have a story like this about TW Columbus?
